Use Cases for the Model 9171 RJ21/50-Pin Switcher: Industrial Automation
Bulk signal switching: It flips all 50 conductors simultaneously, which is ideal when systems use multi-pair bundles common in industrial control wiring.
Manual, robust operation: No power needed; the sealed rotary switch is rugged and simple, suitable for shop floors.
Reduces wear & errors: Avoids repeated plugging/unplugging of dense multi-pin connectors, reducing mechanical stress and errors on mission-critical connections.
The Model 9171 can be used as a manual signal path selector in situations where:
-
multiple control cabinets or redundant systems need to share a single high-density wiring harness,
-
technicians need to quickly switch test or field connections,
-
large bundles of discrete/control signals must be rerouted without rewiring, and
-
fallback or alternate system configurations are required.
All of these are common in conveyor and warehouse automation environments where reliable, high-density signal routing is essential.
