Overview
LineSelect® Model 9074 RJ45 A/B/OFFLINE Rotary Switch, DIN Rail Mounted, Cat5e Compliant, with Manual Keylock Control
The Model 9074 RJ45 A/B/OFFLINE switch allows the user to access two RJ45 devices connected to its A and B ports with one RJ45 device connected to its COMMON port, or to isolate all ports by switching to OFFLINE position. This secure disconnect switch is a manually operated keylock switch, requiring no power. Port selection is quick and easy via a front panel keylock switch. The Model 9080 RJ45 switch is easily integrated as a system component by utilizing its rear panel DIN rail mounting bracket. Key can be removed ONLY in the OFFLINE position.

What Does the Model 9074 AB & Offline Switch with Keylock Control Do?
-
It’s a manual (no-power) RJ45 network switch that lets one “COMMON” network connection be switched to either of two other RJ45 connections (A or B) or totally isolated (OFFLINE).
-
Operated by a keylock on the front panel (key can ONLY be removed in the OFFLINE position) and mounts on a DIN rail for industrial racks/cabinets.
-
It switches all 8 RJ45 pins (Cat5e) so everything (Ethernet, serial over RJ45, or other Cat5e signals) follows the switch.
Typical Use Cases Industrial or Process Control
-
Switch between two network paths or devices for a controller, PLC, sensor, or operator station, without unplugging cables.
-
Can be used in SCADA or automation racks where redundant servers, input/output modules, or networks are present — and you need to manually select which is active.
Secure Isolation (OFFLINE Position)
-
The OFFLINE position physically isolates all connections — helpful for security or maintenance so no signal passes (think troubleshooting or secure disconnect).
-
The key can ONLY be removed in the OFFLINE position to lock out, preventing unauthorized switching.
Avoiding Cable Unplugging
Redundancy or Fallback Configuration
-
If you have two redundant network sources (primary/secondary), you can switch them for upgrades, failures, or testing without re-cabling.
Secure Shared Access
Integration in Control Cabinets
General Networking / Admin
Even outside industrial use, similar “A/B/OFFLINE” RJ45 switches are used where secure physical switching between networks or devices is desirable — e.g.,:
-
Changing which switch/router an endpoint uses without changing cables.
-
Isolating a device from the network during troubleshooting.
-
Switching between test and production networks for a piece of equipment.
