Why a Key-Operated Switch, Not Software?
This kind of manual switch is valued in utility networks or other secured networks because it:
-
Provides a physical disconnect — much harder to bypass than a software command
-
Doesn’t rely on network authentication or software configuration to protect connectivity
-
Offers a clear, visible way to see if a device is connected or isolated
-
Requires no power, making it reliable even during outages or maintenance of network infrastructure.
-
These characteristics are beneficial in critical infrastructure environments where reliability and security are paramount.
