Overview
Model 6765 Four Channel TTL (Transistor to Transistor Logic) to ST Fiber Optic Converter, Board Unit
The Electro Standards Model 6765 is a TTL logic-to-fiber-optic interface converter. It takes digital TTL (transistor-transistor logic) electrical signals and converts them to optical signals that travel over multimode fiber with ST connectors — and vice versa for bidirectional use. Industries can use this converter to move simple digital control signals farther, more safely, and more reliably than copper wiring allows.
-
Converts TTL Logic signals to ST Fiber Optic signals.
-
Ideal for Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) purchase applications.
FEATURES OF THE MODEL 6765 TTL TO ST FIBER INTERFACE CONVERTER BOARD:
The Model 6765 is a high-speed digital logic level to fiber interface media converter. It preserves the same digital signals; it just changes the medium from copper TTL to optical fiber. The Model 6765 interface converter translates four input/output logic pairs into four fiber pairs, resulting in a total of eight ST fiber optic connections. Typical operating speeds are up to 5 Mbps.
Features include user selectable fiber light ON/OFF polarity, convenient ST fiber connectors, and logic test points available for signal monitoring.
The unit is powered from 5 VDC. The power supply input is protected from overvoltage, overcurrent. All TTL copper connections feature advanced ESD protection of ±8kV contact discharge, ±15kV air discharge, (IEC61000-4-2).

Example of Use Cases for the Model 6765 TTL to ST Fiber Optic Media Converter:
- Industrial Automation:
Sends start/stop or status signals between machines and controllers over long distances without electrical noise or signal loss.Industrial environments often have motors, welders, generators, and other machinery that create electrical noise. Fiber optic links are immune to this noise and don’t require a common electrical ground, avoiding ground loop problems.
- Laboratory & Test Systems:
Transfers precise timing or trigger signals between instruments in different rooms while preserving signal integrity. Lab instruments generate TTL timing or trigger signals. Transmitting those from one lab room to another without interference is critical; fiber ensures clean timing.
- Campus / Facility Control:
Links can control signals between buildings using fiber instead of long copper runs, improving reliability and electrical isolation. Copper signaling (TTL) is fine for short distances (a few meters typically), but suffers from signal degradation and noise over long cables. Optical fiber can carry signals over hundreds of meters without loss. Fiber transmission doesn’t pick up electromagnetic interference (EMI). The Model 6765 TTL to Fiber Converter makes it possible to send control signals (e.g., from a PLC, sensor network, or industrial controller) across long distances or between buildings.
