Model 4179 Provides Plastic Optical Fiber to Glass Optical Fiber Conversion for Fast Data Rates without Interference

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, introduces Model 4179 HP Versalink to SC Duplex Fiber Converter to their line-up. This model is used to connect Polymer Optic Fiber (POF) linked Video Lottery Terminals to SC Duplex (glass) Fiber interfaced data processing and communication equipment. The unit provides full galvanic isolation (no metallic connection) between connected devices. The resultant All-fiber network allows fast data rates and data transmission that is no longer susceptible to electrostatic or electromagnetic field interference. Additionally, the ports of the connected terminals are protected from voltage potential differences (ground variations) that often exist between them.
The Model 4179 provides an HP Fiber Transmission Distance of 75m (250 ft) using TC 1000 W type plastic fiber cable and provides SC Fiber Transmission Distance of 4.5 Km (2.8 miles). The unit also provides an HP Fiber Wavelength of 820nm/850nm, Multimode and can be configurable for use as DCE or DTE (specified with order).
The Model 4179 is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 0.5 pounds (226 grams) with dimensions of 5.5” x 2.25” x 1.0” and comes with an external power supply of 120 VAC, 60 Hz. This type of converter is field proven to support Casino networks around the globe and can be used for other similar applications.
