For Immediate Release

Model 7355 Dual-Channel CAT5e RJ45 A/B/Offline Switch, 10/100 Base-T Access, GUI

Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, introduces the Model 7355 dual-channel CAT5e RJ45 A/B/Offline switch with 10/100 Base-T remote access and GUI. The advantage of this switch is that it is so easy to use. Front-panel pushbuttons enable local control. The operator can also communicate with the switch via an Internet Explorer running on a PC. Telnet commands or simple point and click GUI operation is all it takes to control the switch position, obtain the switch status and lockout the front panel controls.

The GUI interface is user-friendly. To connect to the switch from a workstation or computer having access to the LAN that the Model 7355 LAN port is connected to, simply launch a standard web browser and type in the appropriate IP address. The JAVA Applet will be automatically uploaded from the switch upon connection. To change the switch position, click on the radio button for A, B, or Offline as desired. Locking and unlocking the front-panel pushbutton can be done by clicking on the Locked check box. Once connected, the GUI will stay up-to-date on the current position and status of the switch. Any changes that are made outside of the GUI, such as by pushbutton, will be reflected in the GUI. These changes will cause the radio buttons of the GUI to automatically change to show the new status.

Each channel of the Model 7355 allows access to two CAT5e RJ45 networks from one COMMON network or device. To address security concerns, proper authentication is required for remote access via the 10/100 Base-T connection and the switch features a secure offline position. For reliability, all switched signals are passed via latching copper contact relays that maintain their position and continuity even in the event of a power loss.  Front panel LEDs display the switch position for each channel as well as the power status.

The Model 7355 is designed in a slim rack-mount configuration measuring 19” W x 1.75” H x 8” D (48.3 x 4.4 x 20.3 cm). The unit weighs approximately 4.5 lbs. (2.0 Kg). The attractive anodized black box packaging provides EMI/RFI shielding. Custom length CAT5e cables are available from Electro Standards Laboratories for the switch installation.

An optional wide range power module, Catalog No. 517277, is available. This 100VAC/240VAC, 50/60Hz module is both CE and UL listed and is ideal for international applications. The Model 7355 and the power module are available for export worldwide.
