FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cranston, RI – 3/30/2026 — Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), a leader in innovative electronic and power management solutions, recently welcomed members of the University of Rhode Island’s Society of Women Engineers (URI SWE) to its facility for an educational tour and workforce engagement event.

The visit was organized in collaboration with Luci Schneider, President of the URI SWE chapter and a former ESL intern. During her internship last summer, Schneider contributed to electrical engineering projects focused on battery power management and circuit board development. Her experience at ESL was supported through funding provided by the Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board, which helps connect students with meaningful internship opportunities across the state.

Approximately nine URI SWE members attended the event, gaining firsthand exposure to ESL’s engineering operations, technologies, and career pathways in the electronics industry. The tour was led by Raymond Sepe Jr., Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer at Electro Standards Laboratories, who provided insight into the company’s technical capabilities and ongoing innovation efforts.

Also in attendance was Alyssa Alvarado, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board, whose organization plays a key role in strengthening the state’s workforce pipeline by supporting internship programs like the one that connected Schneider with ESL.

“We were excited to host such a talented group of future engineers and to showcase the type of work being done here at ESL,” said Sepe. “Opportunities like this are essential for building connections between students and industry, and for inspiring the next generation of engineers.”

The event was also covered by a journalist from URI’s Rhody Today, highlighting the importance of partnerships between higher education, industry, and workforce development organizations.

Electro Standards Laboratories remains committed to fostering educational partnerships and supporting the development of emerging engineering talent in Rhode Island.
