Electrical Engineering Intern (Electro-Mechanical Integration)

Electrical Engineering Intern (Electro-Mechanical Integration)

Job Type: Internship - Full-Time

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern pursuing a degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology. This role bridges the gap between customer design and production. You will analyze customer-provided wiring diagrams to generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and step-by-step manufacturing instructions using Microsoft Excel. You will also gain hands-on experience building, soldering, crimping, and testing custom rack-mount systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • BOM creation: Extract component details from customer schematics to build accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Excel.
  • Documentation conversion: Translate customer prints into clear, sequential manufacturing instructions and wire run lists.
  • Data management: Utilize Microsoft Excel to track components, map wire paths, and organize build documentation.
  • Precision assembly: Perform light soldering and high-quality crimping of electrical terminals and connectors.
  • Point-to-point wiring: Execute clean wire routing and point-to-point connections inside rack-mount systems.
  • System testing: Support continuity, voltage, and functional testing to validate system performance against customer specs.

Qualifications & Education

  • Education: Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an Electronics Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology program.
  • Software proficiency: Strong, practical understanding of Microsoft Excel for data entry, formatting, and document creation.
  • Diagram literacy: Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics, symbols, and wire run lists.
  • Electro-mechanical skills: Classroom or lab experience with light soldering, wire stripping, and crimping tools.
  • AutoCAD (Preferred): Basic familiarity with AutoCAD is a strong plus, though not required.
  • Detail-oriented: High standards for documentation accuracy and neat wire management
