Control Systems R&D - Electric motor control attached to flexible structures. Development, modeling, and implementation of optimal motor controllers such that underdamped structural resonances are attenuated. Research focused on ability to engage advanced controllers on flexible structures in outer space. H-infinity, LQG, Kalman Filtering techniques were utilized. Interactions between structurally coupled but autonomous controllers were considered. Experiment tested in zero gravity on a space shuttle mission. |
