Development, modeling, and implementation of optimal motor controllers such that underdamped structural resonances are attenuated. Research focused on ability to engage advanced controllers on flexible structures in outer space. H-infinity, LQG, Kalman Filtering techniques were utilized. Interactions between structurally coupled but autonomous controllers were considered. Experiment tested in zero gravity on a space shuttle mission.
